Appreciate, Appreciate, Appreciate
The very subtle but important distinction between gratitude and appreciation. When we are grateful the feeling behind it is usually one of overcoming something or even sometimes the feeling we're not deserving of it. There's a slight, but very noticeable trace of angst to it all. For example, "I'm so grateful for the flowers my husband sent me." When we choose appreciation we are totally in a space of celebration and joy. "I appreciate my husband sending me flowers." Does one feel lighter to you? Does one taste yummier? More delicious? I think gratitude is a wonderful thing. I really do, I'm just asking you to consider taking it one step further and delve into how the difference in the two makes you feel. You know what I am really appreciating today? Me. The way I am. Right now. With all my flaws. With all the mistakes I've made. With this MASSIVE detox headache (I am SO missing coffee!!!) Knowing I can improve, accepting and loving where I am in this moment.
What are you going to appreciate today?
